ii) Yorkshire A visitor from Littleborough, Don Pickis, a vice
president of the Yorkshire and Humberside Amenities Societies
Association, addressed the meeting. Don outlined the need to draw
together Yorkshire and Lancashire societies, to form a more powerful
regional voice, particularly in light of the current trend towards
regional government. John Beaumont thanked Don for his attendance
and agreed, particularly in relation to potential planning issues
surrounding the M62 which runs through both counties. He expressed
regret that there is little communication between the Civic
Societies of Kirklees, let alone cross-county cooperation.
